Fulton County still had two precincts that had not reported, but 62.43 percent of the 670,201 reported votes across the ten counties were against the tax.
"Our reaction is that this is a statement from the voters. They decided what they wanted," said Claire Bartlett, spokesperson for Transportation Leadership Coalition, the volunteer organization that put out TrafficTruth.net against the tax. "It reminds us that this is our state run with our money…and it's our decision on how to spend it."
Bartlett said as the group has been campaigning against the tax they were also working with lawmakers about alternative transportation solutions.
"We've been speaking with legislatures throughout this whole process getting educated on the issues," she said. "We've been doing that in the background for a long time."
Election results are still unofficial, but 418,423 of the reported 670,201 votes are against T-SPLOST.
Fulton County Office of Communications Public Affairs Officer Alicia Phillips said more results will be uploaded today.
