Under the auspices of the American Cancer Society, the Ruach Relay was born from the desire of different organizations whose members were unable to participate in the overnight event to contribute to the fight against cancer.
The 2012 event included several synagogues, a mosque, churches, youth groups and neighborhoods who wanted to make a difference. It exceeded all goals for the inaugural event, and the 2013 event is also well on its way to surpassing its targets.
The Ruach Relay will take place Oct. 13 at Riverside Park, 575 Riverside Road in Roswell. Teams are still forming and all are welcome to join in the effort to fund research and help put an end to the disease which has claimed so many.
The day is a celebration of hope for those who have survived and for those who continue to fight. It is also a day to remember those who lost their battles but live on as a reminder of how important it is to continue to fund research.
