With three city council seats up for election in November in the city of Hiram incumbent council members are considering their next moves – though one apparently has decided.

Three spots are up for election, Post 3 held by Teresa Philyaw, Post 4 held by Derrick Battle and Post 5 held by Earlene Graham.

Battle, who is in his first term, said he planned to seek re-election.

However, Philyaw said she would like to wait a few weeks before publicly stating her intentions.

Graham could not be reached for comment.

No one has yet to inquire about running, and it is still early in the process, said City Clerk Cynthia Geyer.

“They can’t campaign until qualified,” she said.

Aug. 26 through 30 is qualifying week, with a qualification fee of $90. For more information about running for a post contact the City Clerk’s Office at (770) 943-3726, ext. 225.
