Tuesday about 9 p.m., Henry County firefighters responded to a house fire at 345 Loblolly Ridge in Locust Grove.

On the scene, seven minutes after a neighbor notified 911, units were faced with a heavily engulfed structure fire and the whereabouts of the occupants unknown.

First arriving units reported 50 percent involvement on a one-story residential structure.

Initially, fire ground operations operated under the assumption there were possibly occupants inside the home.

Despite the amount of fire present, an aggressive interior attack and search was conducted and a knockdown on the fire was accomplished before crews were forced to exit the structure due to its integrity.

"Fortunately, the homeowners were accounted for and there were no significant injuries reported, Fire Capt. Sabrina Puckett said in a statement.

One person was evaluated on scene, but was not treated or transported.

“We would like to encourage homeowners to practice fire safety in their home and with their families. If you do not have a fire escape plan, take time to make one, review with all persons residing in home, and then practice it regularly. Also, we would like to remind citizens of the importance of not only having a smoke alarms, but checking to ensure they are working properly, Puckett said. "Prepare today to possibly save yourself from devastation later."

The fire was declared under control by 9:30 p.m.

Origin and cause of the fire are unknown at this time. Fire investigation is underway by Henry County fire investigators.
