locate and arrest two 16-year-old male juveniles at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday in connection with the Monday morning vandalism at East Paulding High School, the sheriff's office reported.
Authorities were able to obtain a full confession from one of the male juveniles and
the other denied any involvement, according to a Paulding County Sheriff's Office press release.
The males were both charged with the following
offenses: Criminal Trespass and Curfew Violation, both misdemeanors, and Criminal Interference with Government Property, a felony.
The male juveniles were charged with Criminal Trespass because they were suspended from East Paulding High School earlier in the year and were not allowed on school property.
Both male juveniles were currently attending the Ombudsman school which is the
equivalent of the alternative school, the press release stated. The male juveniles were also charged with Curfew Violation because they were under the age of 18 and out of their homes after midnight without their parents’ permission, the release stated.
One juvenile male was released into his parents’ custody and the other was detained
at the Paulding Regional Youth Detention Center (PRYDC). The juvenile male who
was detained at PRYDC was detained because he had accumulated so many “points” in the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) system from previous incidents. The other male juvenile did not have as many “points” accumulated and was therefore not detained, the release stated.
