From the county government:

All roads are open if driven with care, except for the following:

-Highway 5 at Dog River

-South Burnt Hickory Road at Liberty Baptist Church.

-Skyview Drive between Sweetwater Creek and Thornton Road.

-Anneewakee Road between Dogwood Blossom Mobile Home Park and Fairburn Road.

-Stewarts Mill Road from Chapel Hill Road to Yeager Road.

-Fairburn Road at Riverside Parkway.

-Thornton Road from Interstate 20 to the Chattahoochee River.

The above listed roads can be traveled with four-wheel-drive and much care. There are many abandoned cars along these roads and lots of remaining ice.

The Douglas County School System is closed Friday, Jan. 31.

The Douglas County Courthouse is open Friday, Jan. 31. Jurors are requested to report to the Courthouse at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31.

The County-wide School System Spelling Bee scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31, has been postponed until a later date.

The Douglas County Courthouse, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Landfill, Animal Shelter and all external services and programs will be closed today, Jan. 30, due to the winter weather.

Douglas County E911, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Fire/EMS, Douglas County DOT, Douglas County Emergency Management, and Douglas County Communications will be open, active and serving the public. The Sheriff’s Department Administrative Offices will be closed.

The Douglas County Employee Service Awards Luncheon scheduled for today, Jan. 30, has been postponed until a later date.

The Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Dog River Library scheduled for tonight, Jan. 30, has been postponed
