With Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in the past, there is still time to find unique gifts for family members that may not care for sweaters, dresses or ties.

Hiram is the home of Nature’s Tackle Box, a one-stop shop for any fishing item someone could want. This “mom and pop shop” is owned by David and Christie Lester and offers such unique items as handmade fishing lures, masks to wear on cold mornings on a boat and any color fishing worm that can be imagined, they said.

The Lesters make their own lures to sell called the “Floating Fly.”

“They will catch bass, crappie and stripers,” David Lester said.

The flies are made with duck feathers, fox or raccoon fur and craft fur, Lester said. They produce on average 100 to 150 flies each week, he said.

Also they have the material for fishers to make their own lures.

“You can find ‘do it yourself’ stuff you can not find anywhere else,” said Lester.

The Lesters have sent their lures to Japan, Canada, Texas, California, Washington, Oregon and Kentucky, Mrs. Lester said.

Those seeking a gift to remind someone of a certain memory in their life can visit Somewhere In Time Antiques, said owner Tina Howell.

The shop is located in downtown Dallas, and can be detected from down the street by the smells that emanate from the candles it sells, Howell said.

“We have the best candles in town,” Howell said.

She said that customers will smell the candles, and will find different types of items from their past, which brings back their childhood memories.

The store also has unique antiques, primitives and home decor.

They have items such as an ice box, which has space for a block of ice.

“Where else can you find a farm table that hangs from the ceiling,” Howell said.

Then there is Art Things in downtown Dallas. For 13 years, Lyn Perry Swenson has been selling different types of art, jewelry, glass and antiques.

She said her store features the work of about 40 different artists, the majority who are local.

“I have one artist who makes art out of recycled products,” said Swenson.

Her store is filled with recycled pieces wood that have been made into animals, along with flowers made from plastic spoons, she said.

“It is the place to get something for someone who has everything,” said shopkeeper Jane Wilkins.
