A Hiram Wal-Mart pharmacy employee was released on bond after recently being charged with drug possession and theft of hydrocodone over a three-month period, according to a city of Hiram release.

Lori Benson was charged with 22 counts of theft by taking and 22 counts of possession of a controlled substance following the incident.

Hiram Police were called to Wal-Mart on Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway April 12 after receiving a report of an employee stealing medication.

Benson, a pharmacist technician of 12 years for Wal-Mart, was interviewed by loss prevention officers and admitted to taking hydrocodone pills over a three-month period, the release states.

"Wal-Mart loss prevention advised that the exact number of pills that she took were unknown but records show from the last month that over a hundred were missing from inventory," the release states.

Hiram Police detectives subsequently interviewed Benson, who admitted to taking the pills but could not recall the number she took over that period, the release states.

Video of Benson committing the crime was taken into evidence, according to the release.
