Westminster won the Class AA boys' championship and Marist claimed the AAAA boys' crown at the state golf tournaments Monday.

With a score of 295, Westminster edged out runner-up Oglethorpe (300) by five strokes -- with Lovett (301) finishing third -- to claim the AA boys' tournament at Rocky Creek Golf Club in Vidalia.

Marist won the AAAA boys' tournament at Dalton Golf and Country Club in dominating fashion, posting a team score of 279 to win by 18 strokes over runner-up Richmond Academy (297) and claim its second straight state crown.

Marist's Will Chandler was the AAAA boys' low medalist with a score of 66.

Galloway finished tied for third in the Class A private school girls' tournament at Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah. The Scots (177) were tied with Brookstone and finished behind champion Darlington (171) and runner-up Athens Academy (172), with Holy Innocents' placing eighth.

Galloway's Amanda Doherty finished runner-up for Class A private school low medalist honors to Landmark Christian's Jordan Daniel. Both Doherty and Daniel finished with a 78, but Daniel won on the third playoff hole.

Woodward won the AAA boys' tournament at Reunion Country Club in Hoschton. The War Eagles had a combined team score of 298 to finish ahead of runner-up Blessed Trinity (302) and third-place St. Pius X (305).

Holy Innocents' finished seventh in the Class A private schools boys' tournament at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler.

A complete recap will appear in the May 29 print edition, which comes out next Wednesday.
