The typically tranquil Woodie Fite Senior Center in Douglasville became New Year’s Eve celebration headquarters in Douglas County last week as more than 120 seniors attended its seventh annual celebration.

Woodie Fite Senior Center Director Sharon Johnson said those attending the semi-formal event “moved and grooved” to the sounds of the George Britt Band. After a catered dinner and dancing, the seniors toasted 2014 at midnight with sparkling grape juice, Johnson said.

The theme of the celebration, Talk of the Town was quite evident as an outline of a municipal scene, complete with high-rise office buildings, greeted the patrons as they entered the center’s ballroom.
