The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Incorporated (TTPF), in conjunction with Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is pleased to invite you to participate in NBHAAD Weekend: 2012. It is two events focused on HIV/AIDS awareness and education. On Friday, February 3, 2012 TTPF will host The Arts of AIDS utilizes visual and performing arts to educate on HIV prevention and AIDS awareness. The foundation will also host its sixth annual National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) Observance on February 4, 2012 from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Greenbriar Mall, 2841 Greenbriar Parkway Southwest, Atlanta, GA 30331-2620. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a national community mobilization HIV testing and treatment effort designed to increase awareness in the African American communities across the United States.
A pioneer community based organization, The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Incorporated began supporting NBHAAD in 2007. The annual event provides free HIV testing, speakers on various HIV topics, and entertainment for attendees throughout the day. In 2011, NBHAAD grew to nearly 700 people and nearly 300 tested.
In 2012, The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Incorporated will continue our efforts to serve as the voice and advocate for our community. The NBHAAD observance will focus on the following four areas: Get educated – presenting a variety of speakers to discuss prevention strategies; Get tested – providing free HIV rapid response tests and same day status; Get treated – giving access to agencies to provide ongoing support; and Get involved – mobilizing other organizations and the community to help spread HIV awareness.
