Area players signed, sealed and delivered

National Signing Day is complete. Here are some of the highlights from all of the Neighbor's coverage areas. Please check back throughout the week for additional updates and player interviews.

DEKALB
5:07 p.m. --- From St. Pius, there are three signees. Running back Cole Moon chose to sign at Georgia State over Georgia Southern where he will have the opportunity to start at either halfback or linebacker. Moon's natural position of fullback in St. Pius' option offense does not exist under coach Bill Curry's offense at Georgia State.

Safety Brian Gee and wide receiver Justin Harris each signed with Cornell. Gee chose Cornell over Army, Navy, Georgia State and Presbyterian.

Stone Mountain saw 17 signees. Most notably, offensive tackle Derek Sibleysigned at Tennessee State. Linebacker/strong safety Kierre Isaac and cornerback Derrick Harris signed with Alabama A&M, while linebackerChristopher Gilzeane - the team's leading tackler from last season - will sign with Alabama State.

Wide receiver DeAntonyo Murray signed with Clark Atlanta, and linebacker Carey Wilder, Jr. will play at Tusculum in Tennessee.

 

 

 

 

NORTH FULTON
Final update:
Alpharetta's foursome -Michael Bennett (Georgia), Justin Burns(Delaware), Brandon Terry (Wake Forest), and Connor Hollenbeck(Washington & Lee) - signed and faxed their letters-of-intent earlier today. AHS just hosted a ceremony for the seniors up a the school, according to Bennett.

All 22 north Fulton players are signed, sealed and delivered!

 

 

 

 

 

NORTHSIDE
National Signing Day began in the area at 9 a.m. today with two Riverwood football players and a third athlete signing with colleges.

Defensive backs Khalil Priddie andRandall Logan signed national letters-of-intent with Robert Morris in Pennsylvania and LaFayette in Pennsylvania, respectively.

Priddie and Logan each played defensive backs as well as on offense for the Raiders.

Logan said he chose Lafayette after he visited the campus and got to know the players.

"I meshed really well with the guys," he said. "I really liked the facilities. They were some of the best I've ever seen, and I liked the campus as well."

SOUTH FULTON
Seven Westlake football players signed collegiate football scholarships this afternoon as they take the next step in their athletic, and academic, careers.

Heading the list are LB Michael Taylor, who is bound for Florida, CB Darius Robinson, who is on his way to Clemson and CB Eric Simmons who will be a Kentucky Wildcat.

Also headed onto the collegiate gridiron are OT Tony Jacob, who is bound for Central Florida, OT Nathan Isles, who has set his sights on North Carolina A&T, and QB Arthur McDowell and WR Emil Blackmon, both of whom are going to Tuskegee.

PAULDING
Hiram sent three players from its Region 7-AAAA championship team to the college ranks Wednesday morning. Leighton Gasque, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound linebacker, signed with Middle Tennessee State. Teammate Mario Rolland inked his name with Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan., after playing wide receiver and defensive back for the Hornets. Wide receiver Dylan Cook signed with Savannah State after serving as a top target in the Hornets passing game in 2009.

Next, South Paulding will announce five signees at 11 a.m.

FAYETTE
Clarence Swain of Fayette County High School signed a letter of intent to play at Morgan State University. Head coach Tommy Webb had this to say bout his former center to those in attendance: "Swain is one of the best kids we have," Webb said. "He is a hard worker on the field and in the classroom and is a leader for his peers."

Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone saw eight seniors on the football team sign with collegiate programs this morning.

The Patriot faithful saw DB Isaiha Johnson, 6-2, 186, ink a pact with Georgia Tech and OL Charlie Zemko,6-4, 245 signing with the Air Force Academy while RB Rajion Neal, 5-11, 214, is headed for the University of Tennessee.

Other Patriots signing on the dotted line were DE Lacy Coleman, 6-5,235, and WR Jarrett Davis, 5-11, 165, both bound for the University of Louisville.

Others signees included WR Devon Hughes, 6-1, 185 headed for the University of Buffalo, S Cedric Byrd, 5-9, 170 going to Presbyterian College and LB Mike Spaulding, 6-0, 220 headed for Georgia Southern.

CLAYTON
North Clayton saw five of their senior football leaders sign scholarships this morning.

The Eagle faithful saw LB Clarence Jackson, 6-2, 218 destined for Rebel territory, signing with Ole Miss. while OL Torian Box, 6-3, 295 is headed for Wolf Pack county, signing with North Carolina State.

Other signees today include DT Matthew Smith signing with Tennessee Tech with DB Winston Williams heading to Lehigh University and DT Devon Carter going to Grambling State.

BARTOW
Adairsville made the most of Signing Day, with five players inking Letters of Intent to play college football.

Catlin Alford and Victor Beasley made their way to the ACC, with Alford signing to play with Georgia Tech and Beasley heading to Clemson.

Teammates Tevin Pullum, Dallas Creamer and Tyre' Brown all signed with Carson-Newman in Tennessee.

Adairsville finished 5-5 on the season under first-year head coach Jim Kremer.
