Unless your team is in Region 4-AAAA or one similar to it or has a bye, tomorrow night is more than likely its last chance to prepare for its well-known or new region competition.

Not to downgrade the overall record - it is important - but region records decide whether a team's season ends during the early part of November or extends past that point. This rule applies to all the other team sports and not just football.

A coach I interviewed recently summed up what this Friday night meant for his team--which many of his counterparts would probably agree with.

"We want to make mistakes now and get them over with because after this week we start our region run," he said. "It’s the region run that gets you in the playoffs."
