The time of year has come again for south Fulton’s Tour de 29 Festival. The festival seeks to highlight life along Highway 29, which touches or runs through each south Fulton municipality in some capacity.
The festival will be held through October with a variety of events the Fulton County Arts Council has planned in collaboration with College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Palmetto, Union City, Hapeville and Chattahoochee Hills.
East Point will hold its fifth annual Destination East Point fall festival on Oct. 3 from noon to 7 p.m. along Hwy. 29, directly across from the city’s MARTA station. Erin Rodgers, main street coordinator, said the event is about supporting the community and downtown businesses. The free event will feature a Neighborhood Chili Cook-off, live entertainment, a large kids’ zone including inflatables, face painting, and balloons, a dog show sponsored by Petsmart, which will offer training tips and grooming.
Ms. Rodgers said they have seen up to 5,000 attendees at past events and is hoping new events this year like the Celebrity Dunk Tank, which hopefully will see elected officials participate, will help draw in more visitors.
