The yellow daisies blooming on Stone Mountain mean it is almost time for one of the largest arts and crafts shows in the country.

The 41st annual Yellow Daisy Festival kicks off Sept. 10 bringing hundreds of crafters from across the country and 200,000 attendees over four days to DeKalb County.

“It is the granddaddy of arts and crafts, kind of the Super Bowl of arts and crafts shows,” said Stone Mountain Park Special Events Manager Jeanine Jones. “There are a lot of different things to choose from.”

Ms. Jones said the festival will feature the wares of 541 crafters from across the county.

Vendors will be selling everything from paintings and photographs, to handmade pottery, clothing and jewelry.

She said the event draws about 200,000 visitors to Stone Mountain Park throughout the weekend.

The Yellow Daisy Festival has more than arts and crafts; the festival also boasts a kids corner, with face painting, games and an inflatable obstacle course; a “men’s den,” outfitted with big screen televisions and recyclers; and live entertainment each day of the event by 17 performers.

Performers include blues group Delta Moon, country/variety act Corie Jean & The Posse, bluegrass group The Band Rats, and rock group The Mustangs.

The festival also is home to a “hidden gem,” according to Ms. Jones — the Yellow Daisy Flower Show.

The show puts 36 gardeners from the Red Bud District of the Garden Club of Georgia against each other in a competition of creativity.

The show, now in its 38th year, features 10 categories of floral design.

“It’s a great way to see unusual plants and great new creative designs,” said Yellow Daisy Flower Show chairwoman Lorraine Loftus.

Ms. Loftus is a member of the Lullwater Garden Club based in Druid Hills.

The Yellow Daisy Flower Show is open to the public throughout the festival.

The show also features a youth and horticulture competition.

The 41st annual Yellow Daisy Festival will run Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival will be held in Stone Mountain Park’s Special Events Meadow.

Admission is free with a $10 vehicle entry fee.
