Keeping in tune with NBC’s ‘Biggest Loser’ weight loss competition, the Hapeville Recreation Center, 3444 N. Fulton Ave., is hosting its own challenge.
The contest is open to all who wish to participate, not just Hapeville residents and costs $50 to join. Half of that fee will go toward the prize pot; a winner will be announced in early June.
Weigh-ins will be done for the rest of January, so it is not too late for interested parties to sign up.
Holli Stevens, who works out at the recreation center, said after the show’s finale, she suggested it to her aerobics instructor, Keyuna Milam.
The group will meet monthly, which will include a workout class.
Ms. Milam also sends out bi-weekly/monthly newsletters to participants, which include nutrition and fitness tips.
“I also include any type of events that I may have going on, said Ms. Milam. “I try to let them have all of their options to keep up with me.”
Ms. Milam will be on hand for weigh-ins on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 7:30 p.m. She will host a fitness boot camp on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Hapeville recreation football field from 8 to 10 a.m.
