Southwest Christian Care announces its 17th annual Benefit Dinner and Auction Gala featuring the comedy of Jeff Foxworthy. One of the most respected and successful comedians in the country, Foxworthy has produced platinum albums, written numerous books based on his trademark redneck humor, starred in the television sitcom The Jeff Foxworthy Show and series Blue Collar TV, and currently hosts the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and nationally syndicated radio show, The Foxworthy Countdown.
Attendees to the annual benefit dinner and auction gala will enjoy an exciting evening with a ‘silent and live’ auction, fine food prepared by Proof of the Pudding, and the fun and laughter of Jeff Foxworthy and his “redneck” humor! It will be held on Aug. 20 at the Georgia International Convention Center. All money raised supports the ministry’s care for terminally ill patients, children with special needs, seniors and their families throughout the metro Atlanta area. Because all of these services are provided at no cost to patients or their families, Southwest Christian Care depends on the generous gifts of individuals, civic groups, corporations, churches, business and foundations. The dinner and gala is the keystone of the annual fundraising efforts.
The evening will include the premiere of a new song, recently recorded by artist Brent Cochran, written in honor of special needs children. Truett Cathy will introduce Foxworthy. Cathy is the honorary chairman of the Founders Legacy Campaign to build Southwest Christian Care’s newest facility, “Byron & Jim’s Place,” to house the new adult day program, “Daybreak for Seniors.” Emceeing the evening’s events will be Mike Sorrow, executive director for Southwest Christian Care.
Southwest Christian Care has spent 26 years fulfilling a purpose to glorify God as guardians of the sanctity and dignity of life by providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual care to patients and their families. They provide hospice care both in home and through their in-patient facility, Hope House respite care for special needs children, spiritual care providing a calm and loving place to heal from sorrow or loss, and most recently the new Daybreak Ministry – a day program for seniors. The facilities and programs are located in Union City, but offer this compassionate care at no cost to the entire metro Atlanta area.
Jeff Foxworthy first appeared at this event in 2000, attracting more than 1,300 guests, the largest audience ever. He appeared again in 2005, beating his own record and attracting more than 2,000 attendees. Tickets for this event are limited and expected to sell out.
