The West Atlanta / Douglas Choral Society recently announced that a young artists musical collage with Dustin Harshbarger and Stephen Key will be two of the featured guest artists in its Easter / Spring Concert Tuesday. The concert will take place at 8 p.m. at the Douglas County High School Performing Arts Hall.

WADCS Artistic Director / Conductor Waverly Rainey said he is eager to bring more young acts into the mix.

"We are very excited and proud to secure and feature for the first time both Dustin Harshbarger and Stephen Key in our concert season series.,” he said. “We have heard and worked with both these fine artists and are proud to support the youth by performing with them in our Douglas County community.

Rainey added, "Both of these artists will bring a youthful exuberance of professionalism to our concert,” he said. “We always try to involve children, youth, and adults as an educational dynamic in our performances and wanted to create this special section for them. Both young men are very gifted and talented and we feel that it is important to support them in our programming with the audience.”

A classical guitarist and composer, Harshbarger is a Magna Cum Laude music composition graduate of Georgia Southern University. He has played the guitar for 15 years. He has written numerous selections for classical guitar including several guitar suites and was showcased recently as a local talent on Douglasville CITI TV's City Connector.

Key sings and plays the piano and trumpet and has participated in a band and in talent shows. Presently, he is a member of WADCS and a student of Rainey in piano and voice.

Currently, he attends Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta majoring in business. He plans to transfer to Georgia Tech in the fall to pursue advanced degrees in business and international studies. Stephen is active in his church and community through various ongoing volunteer opportunities.

In addition, returning youth artists Leah Smith and Kara Methven will enhance the concert with their special gifts and talents. Ms. Smith will accompany the chorale on “Wondrous Love” and “Danny Boy”. MS. Methven's interpretive dance collection includes "Wondrous Love", “Pie Jesu” and “Danny Boy".

Seating is limited. Tickets, which are $10, may be obtained easily through the “Contribution / Subscription Series”. Payment can be mailed to WADCS, Inc., P.O. Box 6471, Douglasville, or purchased from chorale members, Kroger Stores Service Desks, or at the concert if available. To be sensitive to our audience and recording technicians, only children 6 and over will be admitted.
