Although one game doesn’t make a season, for the Woodland Wildcats one game meant a lot. After a 41-14 opening night win, The Wildcats new attitude was evident, head coach Steve Hamilton said.

Andre Watts exploded on offense for the Wildats with 221 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

This week, the Wildcats face a familiar foe in Paulding County with a familiar face in Patriot offensive coordinator and former Woodland head coach Scott Hamilton.

When the Wildcats travel to play at Paulding County (0-1) with an opportunity to come out of next weekend 2-0, a familiar face will be on the opposing side line. Former head coach Scott Hamilton is now the offensive coordinator for Paulding County.

“I am sure it is going to be a huge week for him to try and stick it to Woodland so and all of the kids remember him and it is always good to go against somebody you know."

Hamilton said he has a good feeling about the Wildcats.

"I would like to have some more depth in areas but we will gowith what we have. The guys we have have been great, they work hard and you couldn’t ask for more, they have done everything we have asked of them."

"Togetherness Hamilton said, has been a key to the team’s success.

“This is a close group. We had our leadership group with our seniors and when you look around all 16 have contributed and we didn’t have that last year."

"I think it is kind of rare that every one of your seniors is going to be a major player so with that we will go as far as the seniors take us. We have the potential to be good and hopefully we stay healthy and get some breaks along the way.”

Defensively the Wildcats have ends Richard Hyde and Chris Hillwith tackles TJ Cross, and Nick Phillips. Darius Hill, Mitchell Boles, Ryan Carney and defensive MVP Kodi Lenz are the linebackers. The secondary includes Patrick Roper, Colin Robinson, andEvan Hilton.

Cartersville came from behind to defeat Cass 25-20 on a 56 yard scoring run by quarterback Elijar Martinex in the closing minutes of the game as the defense held on to keep the Colonels from scoring at Earl Cunningham stadium.

The Canes will host the Rockmart Yellow Jackets (0-1) at Weinnaman Stadium. Cass will try to rebound when they travel to Douglasville to play South Paulding (1-0) who are beaming after routing Allatoona 51-0 Friday.
