This year the Rotary Club of North Fulton will host its inaugural Crabapple Block Party May 19 at Crabapple Crossroads to raise money for several local charities including Child Development Association of North Fulton, North Fulton Community Charities and Canine Assistants.
“Our intention is to raise money for our charities and drive as much business to those local vendors,” said the club’s director of fundraising Kristi Crockett.
For 10 years Rotary Club of North Fulton held the Concert in the Park as their annual fundraiser, but this year they decided to mix it up.
“We wanted to embark on a new event,” Crockett said. “We want to have a good time, involve the community and raise as much money as possible.”
At the event, attendees will purchase a $25 wristband to receive special discounts at participating restaurants in Crabapple from 3 to 8 p.m.
Vintage Pizzeria is one of those participating restaurants and they will be offering 15 percent off for patrons with wristbands.
“It should be a blast,” said General Manager Susan Willis.
“It’s a very kid-friendly atmosphere. The pizza is the best.”
Other participating restaurants are Erwoods Kitchen and Keg, Old Blind Dog Irish Pub, Sip Wine, Cans Taqueria, Milton’s Cuisine and Cocktails and Scoops.
In addition to food discounts, the Rotary Club has arranged for live music in the courtyard at Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub, Cans Taquria and Sip Wine.
“We’re basically going to have a party,” Crockett said.
“This is a very vibrant, fun area.”
Just as the Concert in the Park was a tradition for many years, Crockett said she’s expecting the block party to be a lasting event.
“We intend to do this for the next 10 years,” she said.
Wristbands can be purchased through any member of the Rotary Club of North Fulton, online at www.northfulton rotary.org or through Crockett at (770) 490-4667 or klcrockett@comcast.net.
