Westminster girls' lacrosse advanced to the Class AAAA-A championship game with a 20-7 semifinal victory over Chattahoochee, getting six goals and two assists from Caroline Heys and five goals and two assists from Eve Knapp.

The Lady Wildcats will visit McIntosh Saturday in the title match.

This followed a come-from-behind, 10-9 win over Holy Innocents’ in the quarterfinals Friday night.

In a rematch of last year’s Class AAAA-A state championship, the Lady Wildcats (18-2) rallied back from down 8-5 with 11 minutes and 26 left in the game, scoring four straight goals and holding on to win.

Anna Silverstein started the rally with a goal, Knapp scored twice to tie it 8-8 and Ansley Walker put Westminster ahead 9-8 with 5:51 left for its first lead of the game on an assist by Caroline Heys.

Holy Innocents’ Arden Birdwell tied the game at 9-9, but Westminster scored the final goal on another netter by Knapp for the final margin. Katie Rush saved two shots over the final seconds by Holy Innocents’ to preserve the victory.

The Lovett girls fell to Johns Creek 17-11 in the quarterfinals.

The Westminster boys’ team returned to the semifinals with a 8-6 opening round win over Johns Creek and a 14-7 win in the quarterfinals over McIntosh.

The Wildcats will host defending state champion Lambert Wednesday at 6 p.m, with the winner facing either Pope or Decatur.

Lovett, the Area 1-AAAA-A champion, fell to Pope, last year’s state runner-up, 14-4 in the second round to end its season.
