Scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., the forum will be held at Cliftondale Park’s clubhouse, located behind the tennis courts, at 4645 Butner Road.
House of Representatives District 62 candidates that will be in attendance include Benny Crane, La Dawn Blackett Jones, Marvin Arrington, Jr. and K. P. Carr.
“The forum gives citizens an opportunity to meet the candidates up close and personal, ask in-depth questions and voice their concerns to them, thereby setting expectations for the type of service and representative we anticipate from our elected officials,” said Johnnie Gordon, one of the group’s members.
Gordon said there are several key issues that will need careful deliberation such as in the areas of education, public safety, economic development, MARTA funding, transportation and the Milton County proposal.
“There has been significant growth and change in this area over the past decade,” he said. “This election is unusually important in that it will involve a new district without an incumbent. We need to identify the best candidate to provide strong, dedicated, knowledgeable representation to deal with those current and future matters.”
During the forum, each candidate present will speak for two minutes and will answer questions form the board of directors for one minute. The board of directors, at the same time, will circulate throughout the audience collecting questions from residents. Each question from the audience will be given a one minute allotment to respond.
