According to city spokesman James Drinkard, the city is anticipating a time frame of 90 to 120 days to complete the process of searching for, selecting and hiring a new director for the Community Development department.
“That takes us through a 30-day advertising period, 30 additional days to review applicants and schedule interviews and another 30 days to conduct interviews and make a selection,” he said.
In the meantime, the city will not be naming an interim director but will instead let senior staff members in that department handle duties.
Kathi Cook, boards administrator, will be the main point of contact on aesthetic design, public hearings and other related matters.
Paul Ivey, building official, will cover building construction and codes enforcement.
Lynn Pierson, zoning administrator, will handle zoning and land development.
