Clayton County Public Schools will hold nine public forums to discuss the minimum day schedule.

The forums will be hosted by Clayton County Public Schools nine high schools and will start at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 14, at the schools indicated.

Parents, students, community leaders and all those interested in the minimum day program are encouraged to attend to learn more about the plan to implement a minimum day schedule for the Clayton school district.

The 90-minute forums will address concerns and clarify details of the new schedule.

There will also be an opportunity for parents and others attending to ask questions and express their concerns.

Parents of high school students are asked to attend the forum at their child’s school while parents of middle and elementary school children should attend the forum at the high school into which their current school feeds.

The minimum day schedule would dismiss students early each Wednesday during the school year. Elementary schools would dismiss students an hour early while middle school students would be dismissed 75 minutes early with high school students dismissed 90 minutes early.

Teachers would work a full day and use the extra time for professional learning meetings, conferences and training.

Parents whose students attend Adamson MS, Elite Scholars Academy, Morrow MS, East Clayton ES, McGarrah ES, Marshall ES, Morrow ES and Smith ES should attend the forums at Morrow HS.

Forest Park High School will host parents of students who attend Babb MS, Forest Park MS, Anderson ES, Edmonds ES, Haynie ES, Hendrix Drive ES, Huie ES and Lake City ES.

Parents of students who attend Lovejoy MS, Hawthorne ES, River’s Edge ES and the Eddie White Academy should attend the forum at Lovejoy HS.

Mundy’s Mill HS will host parents of students who attend Mundy’s Mill MS, Pointe South MS, Brown ES, Kemp ES, Kemp Primary and Pointe South ES.

Parents of students who attend Jonesboro MS, Roberts MS, Jackson ES, Kilpatrick ES, Lee Street ES, Suder ES, and Tara ES should attend the forum at Jonesboro HS.

Mt. Zion HS will host parents of students attending Rex MS, Mt. Zion ES, Mt. Zion Primary, and Arnold ES.

Parents of students who attend Kendrick MS, Riverdale MS, Callaway ES, Church Street ES, Lake Ridge ES, Riverdale ES and Swint ES should attend the forum at Riverdale HS.

North Clayton HS will host parents from North Clayton MS, King ES, Northcutt ES, Oliver ES and West Clayton ES.

In addition, parents whose youngsters attend Sequoyah MS, Fountain ES and Harper ES should attend the forum at Drew HS.
