Now working in local real estate, Reis is a 2002 Roswell graduate. He was a four-year starter for then head coach Tim McFarlin at safety and wide receiver, a three-time team MVP, and a first-team all-state section his senior year.
“Roswell High School was where I developed a strong foundation not only as a football player but also as a man. It is what carried me through college, my NFL career, and now into my family and my business,” said Reis who remains close with the Hornets football program.
“That foundation was built because the coaches at Roswell High School did not just care about winning football games. They desired, and still desire, to help shape the lives of young men for the future. That means more to me than football, and I want to continue to be apart of that legacy.”
At Georgia Tech Reis starred at linebacker and safety for the Yellow Jackets, was an honorable mention all-ACC performer in 2004 and made the Atlanta Coast Conference’s all-academic team in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
After going undrafted in the 2006 NFL draft, Reis played one year in NFL Europe before a four-year stint as a safety with the New Orleans Saints. Known as a standout special teams player, Reis is best known for recovering a second half onside kick in Super Bowl XLIV — a play that flipped the momentum in the Saints favor and eventually led them to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Reis has since retired from the NFL and lives in Cumming with his wife Michelle and their one-year old daughter Piper.
Reis will meet with fans under the Reis Properties (a company he co-owns) tent starting at 6:30.
Under the tent there will also be a chance to win an authentic Chris Reis New Orleans Saints game jersey and other prizes.
