Mark Wallace Maguire and The Dawntreaders unveiled their first music for film in the North American debut of “Tears of Bankers” Tuesday in New York as part of the annual New Filmmakers Series. The screening took place in the city’s legendary Courthouse theatre, home of the Anthology Film Archives.

Mark Wallace Maguire and The Dawntreaders is a music group led by guitarist, composer, bassist and multi-instrumentalist Maguire, who lives in Fayetteville. The group’s current lineup also features Smyrna’s Clint Meador on drums and synthesizers. Meador, who is also the chief producer for the group, also serves as the sound engineer at Village Church Vinings.

“Tears of Bankers” is produced and directed by indie film legend Rick Schmidt, whose films have placed in dozens of festivals, including Sundance Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival and the Florence (Italy) Film Festival. Barry Norman is a producer/executive producer/actor in the film.

After a screening in New York, the movie will make its Southeast debut Friday as part of the Rome International Film Festival. The movie is also being considered for other festivals in Europe and South America.

Other musical groups on the soundtrack include the influential post-punk group, Mission Of Burma whose songs have been covered by artists such as REM and Moby.

Combined, Maguire and Meador have more than 45 years of the music industry experience. Before creating music together, they each had musical careers playing in bands and as accompanists in genres such as alternative, Southern gospel, jazz, blues, classical and rock. The band, and both individuals, are licensed by BMI and are eyeing to stake a claim not only in the indie film industry, but also the growing digital industry. The band is licensed by BMI.
