The Hope Floats Sidewalk Sale is hosted nationwide by the chain’s 123 stores in 24 states and offers guests food, family fun, and the signature root beer floats in exchange for small $1 and $2 donations. Sugar-free root beer floats are also available. Other events taking place at the Atlanta store will include a special guest appearance by the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders. All proceeds will be donated to JDRF.
In addition to the Sidewalk Sale, The Fresh Market is hosting a JDRF Sneaker Sale campaign from August 24 through September 9. Customers can make a donation by purchasing green paper sneakers at The Fresh Market’s checkout counters to show support for this worthy cause. JDRF Collection Containers are also placed at each checkout counter, as every penny counts.
“The Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale is always a wonderful event,” said JDRF Georgia executive director, Trey Moore. “It’s a great way to raise money for type 1 diabetes research while having a lot of fun. We’re grateful to The Fresh Market for their dedication to our goal of curing, treating, and preventing type 1 diabetes.”
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the pancreas stops producing insulin needed to regulate blood glucose. People living with T1D must administer insulin injections multiple times throughout every day, in order to prevent too much glucose—contained in carbohydrates—from entering the bloodstream. They can eat carbohydrates so long as they match their intake with the right amount of insulin.
“The Fresh Market remains dedicated to our partnership with JDRF to raise awareness and critically needed funds for research related to type 1 diabetes through our annual Sidewalk Sale,” said Craig Carlock, The Fresh Market’s president and chief executive officer. “This event is a yearly highlight for our company. It is exciting to see the enthusiasm and compassion with which our employees embrace this event to support their local JDRF chapters.”
