Robbie Rokovitz was sworn in as city manager for the city of Hiram at the Sept. 4 city council meeting.

Rokovitz signed a three-year contract with the city.

Darrin Keaton was sworn in as prosecuting attorney and solicitor and Linda Caldwell was sworn in as indigent public defender for the city.

Keaton’s and Caldwell’s contracts will both be up for annual renewal in January 2013.

The city council also voted to place a moratorium on all new signs exceeding 25 square feet in display area within the city limits for a period of no more than 120 days from the adoption date.

The council also voted to enter into an agreement with Paulding County government for the use of the Trunked Radio System and Services.

The city will use the county’s radio system for Hiram’s police department, as well.

“This contract was our intergovernmental agreement that allows us to work together to make sure our communications are in compliance with each other,” said City Clerk Cynthia Geyer.

In other news, the council voted to withdraw a certificate of deposit from United Community Bank in the amount of $595,643.38 plus interest earned that is due to mature on Sept. 15 for the use of operating funds for the city.

At the time of withdrawal, $250,000 will be deposited into the city’s general fund.

The remainder of the money will be deposited into a money market account and be used at the council’s discretion.
