Gretchen Roberts, executive director of the 9-year-old arts alliance, said this will be the second year the organization will participate in the photography exhibits. The exhibits will be on display Sept. 29 through Oct. 7.
Loving Local, 1418 Dresden Drive in Atlanta, will host the #smART exhibit, which will feature photographic images captured entirely with camera phones. Local photographers Jason Bogart, Gracie Demarest, Christy Murray and Jennifer Seidler will display their work.
At There, a bar and eatery, 305 Brookhaven Ave., Suite 1200, the restaurant will host the “The Ink is Black: The Page is White,” where guests can experience the depth of a simple black-and-white image. Six photographers — Brian Albini, Gracie Demarest, David Hollander, Juliette Mansour, Christy Murray and Stephanie Nelson — will have their work shown.
“I think it’s gonna be neat because we’re in a new spot so it’s great to partner with the gallery and restaurant,” said Roberts.
“I am excited about 15-year-old Gracie and hopefully in February/March we can have another exhibit focused on teenagers.”
Rogers added she is especially looking forward to promoting the smartphone exhibit.
“I think that will show creativity with all of the apps you can manipulate and I think it will be very well attended,” she said.
The opening reception for Loving Local is Sept. 29, 7 to 9 p.m. and for There, a bar and eatery, it is Oct. 2, 6 to 9 p.m. Guests will be able to meet the featured artists, peruse the artwork and enjoy music and light refreshments. The exhibits will be available for viewing during each location’s regular business hours.
Up next for the arts alliance, Rogers said they are working on acquiring a space for the organization.
“Our overall mission is to have a gallery to have art education and an event space, so until that happens we partner with businesses in the community,” she said.
