The event will include a run/walk, music, silent auction, vendors and several events for pets and their owners.
After taking a four-year break, the organization decided this was a good time to start up the event again and chose Dunwoody as its next stop.
“Because of the economy, we stopped after 2008 and now we’re picking it back up again,” said Bob Christiansen, president of the Atlanta Animal Alliance. “When you run a fundraiser you want someone who gives you a dollar to be sure it goes toward helping the animals so in good conscience we couldn’t do it before.”
Christiansen said underwriting for this year’s event is what aided them in hosting it again.
The event is free and open to those with or without pets. Also vendors can set up at the event free of charge.
“We just want people to really enjoy themselves and have a good time and just to come,” said Christiansen. “We understand people are financially struggling these days so if people want to have a good time and want to come out and not pay any money, then come one come all. It’s just as simple as that.”
A sample of the vendors who have already signed up include several pet adoption agencies, which will feature about 100 dogs available to take home, a variety of artists, Chill Dog Sorbet — which sells frozen treats for dogs, and vendors from a pet soup kitchen.
There will also be an agility course for the dogs and their owners with dog training examples, scent discrimination, tricks and more.
“This is a big fundraiser, but the big part is to raise awareness of who we are and what we are doing,” said Christiansen.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. start for the run, a 10 a.m. start for the walk. Music, exhibitors and demos will begin at 11 a.m., with the day wrapping up at 1 p.m.
