Marist’s Alexandra Nagle has fully dedicated herself to volleyball this season after having played both volleyball and basketball in previous years.

The increased focus has paid off for Nagle as the 6-foot-2 senior middle blocker has stepped up her performance to help lead the Lady War Eagles to the No. 2 ranking in Class AA in the latest GACA/GaSports.com state poll.

Nagle leads Marist in kill percentage, total kills and blocks and is one of the top players on the team in service aces.

She played a key role in Marist’s narrow loss to Class AAAAAA powerhouse Chattahoochee (25-19, 19-25, 25-20) and a win over Northgate (25-13, 25-20) in matches last Thursday as well as wins over Columbia (25-6, 24-4) and South Atlanta (25-2, 25-8) last Tuesday.

Nagle decided not to play basketball this season at Marist so she could devote her full energies to volleyball, joining the A5 club team during the summer to gain some more experience.

“Alex is one of the few players on the team that plays club volleyball,” Marist coach Kendall Reid-Webster said. “She has a great work ethic and has a great attitude. She is not necessarily the go-to player on the team, but she is a player that the other players look to to put the ball away.”
