On Sept. 13, the Lady Wolfpack of North Paulding celebrated their senior night by defeating both South Paulding and Kennesaw Mountain by 2-0 scores. A large key to these victories was Cat Conley.

The senior middle hitter and blocker put the spark in the Lady Wolfpack, which won the match against Kennesaw Mountain.

“Kennesaw Mountain had taken the lead and was working on a nice run. We needed to get the ball back and start getting some points on our side. So on the next serve, Cat got a beautiful set from our setter and she absolutely crushed the ball. The entire gym erupted,” said head volleyball coach Geoff Gardener.

Conley has done the same thing in other matches, such as the Sept. 18 competition against New Manchester.

Gardener said his team was “in a funk” but Conley turned up the intensity and the team followed.

“Cat got subbed in for the front row and was on fire. She was hitting balls so hard it was echoing through the gym. She was sending them down the line, spiking them right over the net, she was on fire.”

Conley’s performance, leadership and ability to “jump like a kangaroo and hit the ball with such power” throughout the season has impressed her coach.

“Cat has the ability to get the team and the crowd pumped up like no other. When she gets fired up, she brings so much energy that the team just feeds off of it, it is an amazing thing to see,” Gardener said.
