The Rotary Club of Dallas is set to host a Poker Run for Literacy to benefit club projects for Paulding County schools Oct. 6.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and kickstands go up at 10 a.m.

The motorcycle event will benefit the club‘s teacher of the month program the Dallas Rotary sponsors for Paulding County schools; its dictionary project, which is in its third year; and the Back Pack Program, which gives underprivileged children food to take home on the weekends.

The cost is $25 per rider and $15 for each passenger.

Riders will register at the Paulding Senior Center, 54 Industrial Way North, Dallas, at 8 a.m. Kickstands will go up at 10 a.m.

Club member and District 17 State Rep. Howard Maxwell, R-Dallas, said he and Don Rauscher both ride motorcycles and thought the ride would be a great way for bikers to support local charities.

“It’s just a good time and a nice way to spend your Saturday,” Maxwell said.

Before the ride, Maxwell said the club will provide a light breakfast.

Area businesses also have donated items to be raffled and given away after the ride.

“We’ve got gift cards to different local restaurants, helmets and other different motorcycle gear,” Maxwell said.

“It’s just a good way to spend your Saturday,” he said. “We welcome all riders. We’d love to have anybody who wants to ride.”
