At 36-1, Blessed Trinity volleyball is off to the best start in school history.

The biggest reason for that success is middle- hitter Jessica Holler, a 6-foot-1 senior that has used her imposing frame to dominate the opposition from the front-line all season.

“She is a dynamic hitter; we can put her in any position along the net and set her any kind of play and she can put it down,” said Blessed Trinity coach Paul Stevens.

Holler, who is committed to play for Emory University, has used her dynamic abilities to lead the Lady Titans in hitting efficiency (.410), kills (258) and blocks (72) this season. Her play has helped vault Blessed Trinity to a No. 1 ranking in Class-AAA, No. 1 state ranking among all classes and a No. 25 national ranking according to prepvolleyball.com.

Stevens said that aside from rangy-frame, Holler’s success comes from her knowledge of the game and an innate ability to see plays develop before they actually happen.

“Jessica has a very high volleyball IQ, she reads hitters on the other team very well and is usually in a very good blocking position as a result,” Stevens said.

“As a hitter she reads defenses very well [and] is very powerful and versatile, enabling her to hit any kind of set from any position — a rare skill in a hitter.”
