Marist’s Kendall Chadwick has certainly let her bat do the talking down the home stretch of the softball season.

The junior second baseman has gotten in a groove at the right time for Marist, going 12-for-23 with two home runs, a triple and eight runs scored in a five-game stretch to lead the Lady War Eagles to the Region 6AAAA tournament title and a spot in the Class AAAA state playoffs.

Chadwick’s potent bat helped Marist go through the 6AAAA tournament in dominant fashion, leading the Lady War Eagles to wins over Chamblee and Redan.

It has been a productive season at the plate overall for Chadwick, who is hitting over .400 and leads the team in home runs with three. But, Chadwick — a three-year starter — brings more to the Marist lineup than her hitting skills, according to coach Mike Trapani.

“Kendall brings a toughness to the team and a fierce competitive spirit,” Trapani said. “She is a veteran player and a leader on the team.”

A first-team All-Region 6AAAA selection as a junior last year, Chadwick also plays softball for Team Georgia’s 16-under squad.

She is also a success in the classroom, earning Dean’s List honors the last three years in a row and earning a place on the Honor Roll the previous four years, while maintaining a 3.95 grade point average, at Marist.
