A large part of their success has come from Brittany Truitt.
This senior runner has been finishing ahead of all her female teammates all season.
“She’s our No. 1 runner. She works hard and she’s very focused. Her concentration is very strong right now,” said head coach Brian Robinson.
In Alexander’s most recent meet, Truitt finished first for her team and second overall with a time of 20:27.93 at the Aubrae Gunderson Invitational in Conyers.
In the first meet of the season, The Bob Blastow Invitational at Clinton Farms in Winston, Truitt placed ninth with a time of 19:16.30, her personal best for a 5000-meter run. In the second meet, the Panther XC Invitational in Fayetteville, Truitt finished sixth overall with a time of 20:31.83. In the third meet, Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational, Truitt placed 11th with a time of 21:02.91.
Truitt has been on the Alexander cross country and track teams since she was a freshman. During track season Truitt also competes in the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Robinson has been the cross country coach for 19 years and has seen her grow as a runner since the very beginning.
“She has really gotten better since her first year, especially with this last season of track and cross country,” Robinson said.
With this being her last year in high school, Robinson can see that Truitt is working harder than ever.
“She’s hungry to win and finish strong her senior year,” Robinson said.
