Held one Sunday evening each month, November through February, this new indoor series is free and open to the public. Concerts are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and are located at Heritage Green in the renovated Heritage Hall, 6110 Bluestone Road, Sandy Springs. The concert series features four performances by a variety of local musicians:
o Nov. 18: Midtown Brass Quintet
o Dec. 16: Joe Gransden’s Holiday Show with special guest Francine Reed
o Jan. 20: Franklin Pond Quartet
o Feb. 17: Kaleidoscope (Michael O’Neal Chamber Singers)
“I’m so honored to be a part of the Heritage Winter Classic Series,” said Gransden, an Atlanta-based trumpet player and vocalist. “Francine Reed and I can’t wait to get everyone in a holiday mood! It’s going to be a great event!”
Doors open at 4 p.m. Pets and smoking are not allowed. Parking is available on Sandy Springs Place in designated lots and in the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church’s Hitson Activity Center lot, on Sandy Springs Circle, as well as in the Heritage Sandy Springs parking lot on Bluestone Road.
Heritage already hosts two monthly concerts series in May through September, Concerts by the Springs and Wind Down Wednesdays. The Winter Classics was established to tap into other types of music.
“With many of our members requesting classical, jazz and other genres, we decided to put together a classical series that would appeal to a broad range of tastes,” Heritage Executive Director Carol Thompson said. “We look forward to welcoming the community to these free concerts on Sunday afternoons as we present great local talent in an intimate and beautiful setting in the heart of the city.”
