Long delays and major backups in both directions are expected this weekend on the I-285 top end as crews work on the mainline in both directions and close several ramps as part of the massive resurfacing project, weather permitting, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Construction and maintenance work will also be underway on several state routes around metro Atlanta throughout the weekend.

All weekend, two left lanes will be closed eastbound from Cobb Parkway to Powers Ferry Road and two right lanes will be closed westbound from Ashford Dunwoody to Riverside Drive. Crews will also close and reopen several ramps along the top end.

“It will be a difficult drive across the top end this weekend,” said GDOT District Construction Engineer Lee Upkins. “Avoid it if possible, but if you have to go through there, give yourself extra time.”
