In a news release Tuesday, the Sandy Springs Police Department announced detectives have issued felony murder warrants for Caris Ayala in the death of a 5-month-old child.

Ayala was babysitting for the family Oct. 5 when the male child was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by ambulance after reported to be “unresponsive.” The child had severe brain injury and remained in critical condition until Friday night, when he died after being removed from life-support systems.

Ayala was initially interviewed by detectives as were the parents of the victim. A second request for an interview was made by police detectives. At that time, an attorney contacted detectives and made arrangements for Ayala to re-interview. However, she never showed at her attorney’s office on the day of the interview. She has not been seen nor heard from since that time.

She is traveling with her husband, Noe Castillo-Ramirez, and the couple’s 7-month-old child. A criminal warrant for hindering the apprehension of a felon was taken for Castillo-Ramirez. She is believed to have left or is attempting to leave the country. Ayala was last seen in a black Toyota T-100 truck with a Georgia tag, BKM9384.
