Senior wide out Bennett Barton was a big reason why, as the third-year starter saved the best game of his career for his last.
Catching six balls on the night, Barton posted a season high 230 yards receiving and two touchdowns — the first from 85 yards and eventually the game-winner from 50 yards out in the third quarter.
“He was a really versatile weapon for us this year,” said Roswell head coach Justin Sanderson of Barton. “He could go up and get it or we could throw it to him and let him go break three or four tackles like he did on his 85-yarder which was a thing of beauty.”
Barton’s 85-yard score came early in the game and was his longest of the season. The senior’s big night ran his 2012 totals to 740 yards and six touchdowns on 42 receptions.
“He’s the guy we looked to when we needed to make something big happen. That’s exactly what he did against Walton and it was great for him and the team to be able to put the exclamation point on the season with such a big win.”
