Daniels had 13 points and five steals in a 55-27 victory over Eastside in the Lady Warriors’ season opener then followed that performance up with 17 points and eight steals in a 72-28 rout against North Clayton.
“I think she has made tremendous improvements,” SACA girls’ coach Jackie Cowan said after the win over Eastside. “In fact, she surprised me because she has taken her game up another level. That is impressive in high school.”
Now, Daniels has better ball control with her left hand and a dependable mid-range jump shot to compliment her speed from baseline to baseline.
“She’s got so much athletic ability,” Cowan said. “She’s probably the fastest player I’ve ever coached. She brings a lot to the table.”
Not that it hurts either but Daniels also runs the 100 and 200-meter dash, and first leg for the 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 relay teams.
Daniels has a 3.3 grade-point average and an interest in business. She said she would like to play basketball at either Virginia Commonwealth or South Florida.
