Scouting the matchup: This will be Lovett’s sixth state quarterfinal appearance in seven years. The Lions have been on a roll with six straight wins and have outscored its postseason opponents 50-0 through thje first two rounds. Lovett will have to come up with another strong defensive performance against a Lamar County offense that has averaged 37 points a game this season. But, the Lions should be able to ride their momentum for another week and advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 2010.
