Indulge cravings for lunch, dinner or dessert at one of the newest eateries in the Georgetown Shopping Center in Dunwoody. The owners of locally based Farm Burger and Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream teamed up to open the joint restaurant in late September. It was the third store for both establishments — also the first joint venture for both — and so far business has been booming.

“Since day one, it’s been great,” said Farm Burger co-owner George Frangos.

Morelli’s co-owner Donald Sargent said the location at 4514 Chamblee Dunwoody Road has received positive response from the community. It is the first time both establishments operated outside of the I-285 perimeter. Morelli’s first location is in the Ormewood Park community of east Atlanta, and its second location is in Little Five Points. Farm Burger started in Decatur with a second location in Buckhead. Frangos said the Dunwoody location brings a great family-oriented consumer base to the restaurant along with workers from nearby offices and shops. The ice cream shop dominates the right side of the 3,000-square-foot location while burgers, fries, salads and sides can be ordered to the left.

“It’s a perfect pairing,” Sargent said. “Usually the winter is pretty much the death of ice cream. Farm Burger [does] a lot of business in the winter. So because they’ve been very busy here … we’ve actually been able to share in that success.”

Frangos said it helps they are complimentary establishments and share customers rather than compete for them.

“[Customers can get] a shake and a burger or an ice cream cone after your meal,” he explained. Sargent added, “I can’t really see a better combination than that.” Both Farm Burger and Morelli’s are clients of firm Trowbridge Partners and managing member David Smith suggested the two team up to share the Dunwoody location. Frangos and business partner Jason Mann were looking to expand and so were Sargent and his wife and partner Clarissa Morelli.

Frangos said Farm Burger and Morelli’s even share some of the same philosophies about how they prepare their menu offerings. Farm Burger serves 100 percent grass-fed beef from cows raised locally and uses ingredients from local farms.

The ice cream at Morelli’s is all homemade at the location in Ormewood Park where they tap into their creativity to come up with flavors like blueberry rosewater or coconut jalapeño in addition to the traditional vanilla or the best selling salted caramel flavors.
