The senior has been a key contributor in nearly every way imaginable on a team that is just one win away from the GHSA Class AAA championship.
“David is an outstanding student-athlete who plays both ways for us — offensive guard and defensive end,” said St. Pius X coach Paul Standard. “He does everything we ask him to do and he’s been pretty solid for us.”
On defense, Marsau is part of a unit that shut down a high-scoring North Hall offense en route to carrying the Golden Lions to their first state title game appearance in 44 years. The Trojans had been averaging 42 points per game before running into Marsau and company.
On the offensive side of the ball, Marsau, a co-captain, helped pave the way for fellow senior Ryan Braswell’s big rushing day — 131 yards and two touchdowns — against North Hall.
Marsau and the St. Pius football Class of 2013 have but one more challenge to overcome — perennial Class 3-A power Buford — if they are to go out on top.
While the Golden Lions are four quarters away from winning it all, look for Marsau to make his mark on both sides of the ball.
