The building will house Haddad Inc., a Pennsylvania-based company that rents specialized trailers for movie, television and commercial productions, according to haddadsinc.com.
It will build its Southeast headquarters in the Dallas Industrial Park, said Blake Swafford, executive director for the authority.
“We sold [company owner] David Haddad the land, and he hired us to do the construction for him,” Swafford said.
The building for the company will be 16,000 square feet, he said. Construction has already begun on the project and is targeted for completion by March, Swafford said.
The company will employ around 10, he said.
The Authority approved a series of bids for construction, including one with C&L Construction to reduce the cost of the building’s sewage system by $20,000.
In a related matter, Swafford said Atlanta Film Studio Paulding County is working to bring more films to the West Georgia area.
“In January there are six shows looking to start up in Georgia,” said Swafford.
“They [film recruiters] are on the heels of all six of those trying to sign one or more.”
An issue the studio is having when trying to recruit non-Georgia producers is they do not generally know where Paulding County is located, he said.
Paulding Economic Development director Jamie Gilbert is working with Georgia Power to create a map showing potential filmmakers the travel time to the studio from surrounding areas, Swafford said.
