Coaches say the St. Pius X wrestler can always be counted on to come through on and off the mat.
Peragine, a four-year starter on the varsity squad, has had plenty of practice honing his grappling and leadership skills.
“Quinn is that great combination … a terrific athlete whose greatest asset is he’s an incredibly smart wrestler,” said Golden Lions coach David Sabino.
“He’s a real student of the sport,” Sabino added. “He combines great wrestling technique with just being a great wrestler.”
Peragine, a senior, is in the midst of his second season as a captain on a youth-laden squad. The Golden Lions’ stable of youngsters would do well to emulate his skills and intangibles.
“He’s everything you could ask for in a leader,” said Sabino. “He leads by example and he’s vocal.
“He pushes himself and challenges his teammates — in practice and when we compete … he’s really embraced that role of leader this year.”
