Morrow’s turnover issues and point-blank misses at the rim opened the door for Rockdale County to move into second place in Region 2-AAAAAA.

Seniors Anthony Calloway and Sahr Joe both scored 11 points but the Mustangs were unable to keep pace en route to a 76-62 home loss to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

C.J. Wilson had 21 points, 10 assists and seven steals, and LaRonta Parks scored 18 and Connor Ferrell added 16 for Rockdale County (11-7 overall, 4-1 Region 2-AAAAAA), which won its fifth straight game.

“Wilson was very fast,” Morrow boys’ coach Creswell Foy said.

Early in the second quarter was when the Mustangs fell behind. A pair of 3-pointers by Parks and Wilson highlighted a 14-3 run for a Rockdale 29-16 advantage. As a result, Foy made a platoon substitution and Morrow trailed by just eight at the break.

After the Bulldogs extended their lead back to double digits early in the third quarter, the Mustangs made their best run of the contest, which was highlighted by two 3-pointers from DeMarkus Loman (nine points) during a 9-0 surge for a 35-34 score.

But Ferrell and Wilson responded for Rockdale with back-to-back, three-point plays to rebuild the margin.

The Bulldogs would lead by at least five points the rest of the frame and the Mustangs would never get closer than seven points in the final period.

Chris Datcher (seven points) had 10 rebounds – five offensive – and three blocks for Morrow (15-4, 4-2), which visits Alcovy on Tuesday.
