Newly elected District 30 State Sen. Mike Dugan, R-Carrollton, will serve as vice chairman of the Senate Government oversight committee, according to a list of committee assignments released last week. Dugan’s district includes western Douglas County.
Dugan, who was chosen in a special election Jan. 8, also will serve on the economic development, veterans, military and homeland security and state institutions and property committees.
In the House of Representatives, District 68 State Rep. Dustin Hightower, R-Carrollton, will serve as secretary of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
Hightower also will serve on the appropriations, public safety and homeland security, special rules and government affairs committees. His district includes part of southwestern Douglas County, and he is an attorney with the Douglasville firm of Miller and Hightower.
New District 67 State Rep. Micah Gravley, R-Douglasville, and new District 66 State Rep. Kim Alexander, D-Douglasville, will be fellow members of both the economic development and tourism committee and code revision committee.
Gravley also will serve as a member of the judiciary non-civil committee. District 67 includes western Douglas County.
Alexander also will serve on the intragovernmental coordination and legislative and congressional reapportionment committees. District 66 includes central Douglas County.
Other committee assignments for Douglas County legislators included:
n District 35 State Sen. Donzella James, D-College Park: Senate State and local government, special judiciary, economic development and education and youth committees.
n District 60 State Rep. Roger Bruce, D-Atlanta: House of Representatives’ game, fish and parks, human relations, judiciary and small business development committees.
n District 62 State Rep. LaDawn Jones, D-College Park: House of Representatives’ state properties, judiciary and budget and fiscal affairs oversight committees.
n District 65 State Rep. Sharon Beasley-Teague, D-Red Oak: House of Representatives’ game, fish and parks, legislative and congressional reapportionment and ways and means committees.
