The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for an area including metro Atlanta and northwest Georgia -- in effect Friday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Paulding County Sheriff's Department posted on its Facebook page.

The advisory covers portions of central Georgia north of a line from Franklin to Griffin, Eatonton and Crawfordville.

Less than a 10th of an inch of ice is expected before turning to rain and melting.

A freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties.
