The meeting provided Tiffany Circle members and invited guests a forum to explore how women in leadership are making an impact in their local communities through the American Red Cross. Last year, Tome was ranked No. 2 on the Wall Street Journal’s list of best chief financial officers in corporate America, and among Fortune magazine’s top 50 most powerful women in Business.
The Tiffany Circle is a society of women leaders and philanthropists from 68 regions across the country who commit a minimum of $10,000 a year in support of the Red Cross mission. Atlanta’s Tiffany Circle has a growing membership of 40 women composed of professional, business and community leaders, and has raised more than $3 million for local Red Cross services, including disaster relief, since its inception in fall 2007.
The society is named for the Tiffany windows in the Board of Governors Hall at Red Cross national headquarters in Washington. Red Cross President Mabel Boardman commissioned these windows, produced by the Tiffany Studios, in 1917. As an act of reconciliation and hope, they were paid for with a $10,000 gift — $5,000 from the Women’s Relief Corps of the North and $5,000 from the United Daughters of the Confederacy of the South.
